A submersible well pump is an oil-filled motor-and-pump assembly that hangs from drop pipe inside the well casing, fully submerged below the water level. It pushes water up to the surface, which is more efficient than a jet pump trying to pull water up from above. Submersibles are the standard for deep wells (60+ feet) and most modern installs in central NC. We install Goulds, Franklin Electric, Grundfos, Sta-Rite, and Myers — sized to your well's depth, yield, and the home's fixture count.

How a service call works

  1. 1
    Free phone diagnosis

We walk through symptoms, water pressure, sounds, and system age to narrow the problem before we roll a truck.

  2. 2
    On-site test

We check voltage at the pressure switch, draw amps on the pump, and verify pressure tank pre-charge before opening anything.

  3. 3
    Written estimate

You see the recommended scope, repair vs replacement, parts, and labor in writing before any work begins.

  4. 4
    Repair or replacement

We carry common pumps, tanks, switches, and check valves on the truck so most no-water calls finish the same day they started.

  5. 5
    System test and follow-up

We cycle the system, confirm pressure holds, shock-chlorinate when needed, and stand behind the work with a labor warranty.

What does it cost?

Most residential submersible installs run $1,500 to $3,500 all-in: pump, drop pipe, wire, fittings, and labor. Stainless pumps and deeper wells push the price higher.

  • 1/2 HP, 100–200 ft well: $1,500–$2,400
  • 3/4 HP, 200–350 ft well: $2,000–$3,000
  • 1 HP, 350–500 ft deep well: $2,800–$3,800
  • Stainless upgrade for iron wells: +$200–$500
  • Free written estimate before any work

Frequently asked

What is a submersible well pump?

A sealed pump-and-motor assembly that hangs inside the well, fully underwater. It pushes water up to the surface rather than pulling it up. More efficient than a jet pump for any well deeper than about 60 feet.

How long does a submersible pump last?

8 to 15 years in central NC, depending on water quality and how hard the pump cycles. Iron, sediment, and short-cycling shorten pump life.

What brand do you recommend?

Goulds and Franklin Electric are our most-installed brands — both are made in the US and parts are easy to source. We are not locked into one manufacturer, so we recommend by application.

What size submersible do I need?

Depends on well depth, well yield (gpm), and the home's peak fixture demand. A 3-bathroom home on a 250 ft well typically needs a 3/4 HP, 10 gpm pump. We size on site.

Do you warranty the work?

Yes. You get the full manufacturer warranty on the pump or tank plus our own labor warranty on the install. We answer the phone after the job is done.

Can you come out the same day?

Yes. No-water calls get same-day priority across the Piedmont Triad and our phone is answered 24/7. Most emergency calls are reached on-site within a couple of hours of the first call.
