T.W. Stanley & Son is a family-owned well pump repair company based in Greensboro, North Carolina, serving six counties across the Piedmont Triad since 1946. If your home runs on a well anywhere in Guilford, Alamance, Forsyth, Rockingham, Randolph, or Chatham County, you are inside our service area.

We work in the cities and towns where the Triad's well-water homes actually are, Greensboro, Burlington, Winston-Salem, Asheboro, Reidsville, and Pittsboro, plus Summerfield, Oak Ridge, Jamestown, Pleasant Garden, Kernersville, Clemmons, Mebane, Graham, Elon, Eden, Madison, Archdale, Randleman, and the surrounding rural routes. Three generations of the same family have done this work, on these same roads, with the same answer-the-phone approach.

When water stops at a home on a well, it stops everything, showers, laundry, cooking, even flushing toilets. That is why we built the business around 24/7 availability and a stocked truck. Most repairs are diagnosed on site and finished the same day. See every county and city we cover.

Common well pump problems we fix

The symptoms homeowners call us about.

Most well pump failures show small symptoms for days or weeks before the system quits. Catching them early usually means a quick repair instead of a full pump pull. If anything below sounds familiar, give us a call.

No water from the well

A no-water call usually traces back to a failed pump motor, a tripped breaker, a bad pressure switch, or a dry well. We diagnose the cause on site and get water flowing the same day whenever possible.

Low or inconsistent water pressure

Pressure that fades during a shower or never reaches the upstairs taps is most often a waterlogged pressure tank, a worn pump, or a clogged screen. A short service call usually restores normal pressure.

Sputtering or air in faucets

Air bursts at the tap mean the system is losing prime, typically a cracked drop pipe, a bad check valve, or a dropping water table. We pressure-test the system and repair the leak source.

Pump short cycling

A pump that kicks on and off every few seconds is hard on the motor and the tank. The culprit is almost always a failing pressure tank bladder or a switch out of adjustment, both are quick fixes.

Dirty, cloudy, or sandy water

Grit and discoloration usually mean the pump is pulling from too deep, a screen has failed, or the well needs to be redeveloped. We inspect the pump position and recommend the right next step.

Unusual noises from the pump or tank

Grinding, clicking, or humming from the pressure tank area points to bearings, the pressure switch, or a failing relay. Catching these noises early usually means a repair instead of a full replacement.

Why homeowners in the Triad call us

Three generations of well work in central North Carolina.

T.W. Stanley Sr. started the company in 1946 to help neighbors keep their wells running. Eight decades later we are still doing the same work, diagnosing failing pumps, replacing pressure tanks, and getting water flowing again, for the children and grandchildren of those first customers.

Our trucks roll stocked with the parts a typical service call needs: pressure switches, common submersible pumps, pressure tanks, check valves, and the fittings to make them all talk to each other. That is why most calls finish on the first visit, and why we can quote honestly before the work starts.

We also handle the systems that share the pump room, water tank repair, sump pump repair, and sewer pump repair. Active military, firefighters, and police officers get a discount; mention it when you call.

Frequently asked

Quick answers before you call.

More detail on our full FAQ page.

How fast can you get to my home?
We answer the phone 24 hours a day, every day of the year. Same-day service is the norm across the Piedmont Triad, and most emergency calls in Guilford, Alamance, and Forsyth counties are reached within a couple of hours.
Which counties and cities do you service?
We cover Guilford, Alamance, Forsyth, Rockingham, Randolph, and Chatham counties, including Greensboro, Burlington, Winston-Salem, Asheboro, Reidsville, Pittsboro, Summerfield, Oak Ridge, Kernersville, Mebane, Graham, Elon, and the surrounding towns.
Do you provide written estimates?
Yes. Phone estimates are always free, and every job gets a written on-site estimate before work begins so you know the recommended scope, repair vs. replacement, parts, and labor before we start.
Do you replace well pumps, not just repair them?
Yes. When a pump is past its service life or the motor itself has failed, replacement is often the smarter long-term call. We carry common submersible and jet pumps on the truck so we can replace on the same visit when needed.
What hours are you open?
We are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, including weekends and holidays. When a well stops, it stops everything, so we built the business around being reachable whenever that happens.
Do you offer discounts?
Yes, we extend discounts to active military, firefighters, and police officers. Mention it when you call and we'll apply it to your invoice.
