New well pump installation on a freshly drilled well is the sizing, setting, wiring, and start-up of the pump-and-tank package that turns a raw well into a working water system. After the driller leaves you with a cased hole and a yield report, we size the pump to the well's gpm and the home's fixture count, install the pitless adapter through the casing, set the pump on new drop pipe and wire, plumb the pressure tank inside, and shock-chlorinate the well before bacteria testing. Most new-construction installs are completed in a single day once the driller is done.

What our team handles on the call

  • Pump sizing based on driller's yield report
  • Pitless adapter installation through the casing
  • Pump set on new drop pipe, wire, torque arrestor, check valve
  • Pressure tank, switch, gauge, and tank tee
  • Tie-in to home plumbing manifold
  • Shock chlorination and bacteria test scheduling

How a service call works

  1. 1
    Coordinate with driller

Driller hands off depth, casing size, and yield (gpm). We use those numbers to size the pump correctly.

  2. 2
    Written estimate

Pump, drop pipe, wire, pitless adapter, pressure tank, switch, tee, labor — all itemized.

  3. 3
    Set the pump

Pump is set on new drop pipe with a torque arrestor above and a check valve at the discharge. Wire is supported every 10 ft.

  4. 4
    Pitless and well cap

Pitless adapter goes through the casing below the frost line; sanitary well cap goes on top to keep contaminants out.

  5. 5
    Pressure tank and tie-in

Tank is plumbed inside (or in a pump house) with switch, gauge, and tank tee, then tied into the home's manifold.

  6. 6
    Shock and bacteria test

We shock-chlorinate the well, flush, and recommend a bacteria test 24–48 hours later before the water is approved for drinking.

What does it cost?

New-construction well pump installation runs $2,000 to $4,500 in central NC depending on pump size, tank size, and whether a pump house or shed needs plumbing. Constant-pressure system upgrades add $800–$1,500.

Frequently asked

Do you work directly with builders?

Yes. We handle new-construction pump installs for builders, custom-home contractors, and owner-builders across the Triad. We invoice the builder or the homeowner — whichever you prefer.

How long does the install take?

Most new-construction installs are completed in a single day once drilling is done and the well has settled. Shock chlorination and bacteria test add 24–48 hours before the water is approved for drinking.

Can you install before the home is finished?

Yes — we often install the pump and tank in a pump house or temporary enclosure so water is available for the rest of construction, then tie into the home's manifold once plumbing is roughed in.

Do you handle the permit?

The well construction permit is pulled by the driller through the county health department before drilling. Pump installation does not require a separate permit in most NC counties, but local electrical permits may apply for the wiring.

Do you warranty the work?

Yes. You get the full manufacturer warranty on the pump or tank plus our own labor warranty on the install. We answer the phone after the job is done.

Do you handle bacteria testing?

We shock-chlorinate after every install and coordinate the bacteria test with a certified lab. Results come back in 24–48 hours; if there is any contamination we re-shock and re-test at no charge.
